SABOTS YOUYOU

In 1803, in Les Sables d’Olonne, on the West coast of France, Mister YOU opens his clog factory. A few years later, Mister YOU meets Madam YOU. This love story gives birth to the brand name “YOUYOU”. Sabots Youyou is an institutional footwear brand in the department of Vendée. It represents our roots, a living folklore and a landmark.

When people heard in the local press about the new acquisition of the brand, they recounted to me countless memories on the YOUYOU clogs. These were beautiful family stories about the clog-making factory in Les Sables which helped form the craft that we see in our line today.

Some families brought me very old and tattered YOUYOU clogs. They were still alive and useful for the garden or to walk on the port. Out of all these stories came a revelation: “I must carry on so that new and great stories can persist.”
Protected from the winds of change and the tide of time, YOUYOU will remain on the same location for more than 200 years.

In order to endure over times, the clog as an object must be flawless.

The brand YOUYOU is now part of the future, a cleaner future where our choices, our purchasing decisions are driven by environmental consideration. The careful selection of our raw materials –wood, leather and other supplies– was an important step, choosing high quality, sustainable and environmentally friendly material was the main objective. Even the shoe boxes are made out of recycled cardboard and are reusable for convenient storage.

YOUYOU guarantees the transparency of its supply chain down to the wooden sole, leather and assembly. Full details can be found in the product sheet. Since we only chose natural materials, each pair of clogs is as unique as you are.
